Why should you attend STPCon in April?

Why Attend STPCon?
Calling all software testers! Are you looking for a conference that has tracks that will intrigue everyone? Then STPCon is the conference for you… Coming to San Francisco, CA from April 4 – 7, STPCon offers the perfect balance of learning, fun and education. Here are some reasons that I recommend STPCon to countless software testing and quality professionals.

STP Radio – are you listening?

Before we get to April, I encourage everyone to check out the pre-conference interviews that Smita Mishra and I have been conducting as part of STP Radio. Several of the workshop and session speakers have sat down with us to share their take on their presentations, as well as to share interesting facts about themselves. If you haven’t listened to them yet, you will find them very entertaining and educational. Bookmark the page so you can listen to these episodes on your commute, while doing yard work or while at work.

The Keynotes

Keynotes are an exciting opportunity for all attendees to enjoy a presentation at the general session. At this STPCon, we have a great lineup focusing on leadership, industry trends, technology and testing methodologies.

We start STPCon with one of the most influential industry veterans – Karen Johnson. Karen kicks off the conference on Wednesday with her address – How Nancy Drew Prepared Me to Become a Software Tester.

Later in the day Neil Manvar will talk about Continuous Testing and Yahoo! Like most enterprise organizations, Yahoo! strives to create highly personalized experiences for its users, and keep people connected to what matters most to them, across devices and around the world. However, there is constant pressure to meet the demands of users and continually introduce new updates and features. What happened when they adopted an Agile software development framework (utilizing Continuous Integration practices)? Attend this keynote address and find out.

On Thursday morning we kick off the day with Smita Mishra, Dave Haeffner, and Damian Synadinos. As we are all painfully aware, the world is evolving faster now than any generation before. We are seeing technology grow exponentially and the world is moving from simple information systems to complex internet of things, mobile technology, and multiple variations of complex systems, services, and products. As Testers, how are we keeping up with this evolution? Maybe it’s time for a Test (R)evolution!

Finally, Anarka Fairchild with Microsoft will talk about Effective Testing and Automation with Integrated Tools.

The Workshops

Once again, we have two days of workshops* (Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5). This Spring is chuck full of great topics and hands on tutorials. There is so much to choose from that most attendees will bring three and even four team members just to cover all that STPCon has to offer. Here are a few highlights:

Conference Sessions

One-Hour Sessions take place on Wednesday and Thursday.  There are so many great sessions lined up for this STPCon, really too many to mention individually. Just make sure you check out each of the presentations and descriptions on the STPCon Event Schedule page.

After Hours Activities

Not only does STPCon provide outstanding educational content, we also like to have a little fun. We have a few events planned after the workshops and sessions have come to an end.

The first is our Meet & Greet Reception that will take place on Tuesday evening. We will hop on a bus and head over to the historical Steel Head Brewing Company in Burlingame, CA. Have some heavy snacks, some drinks, play some pool and network with speakers, keynotes and your fellow attendees.

Wednesday also has its activities… The welcome reception and sponsor expo is scheduled for Wednesday evening and concludes with a prize giveaway. You must be present to win so don’t miss out on the fabulous prizes that our STPCon sponsors provide. Directly after the sponsor expo, the guys from PerfBytes will perform a LIVE Podcast directly from STPCon. You don’t want to miss this unique opportunity to be a part of the live studio audience.

So have you signed up yet? Ready to be part of the show? If not, then let me give you one more incentive… If you register before 03/19 with my discount code S2016ML you can get 10% off the conference pricing**.
