Workshop: Application Performance Clinic

Andreas teaches you how he analyzes scalabilty and performance problems of applications without having to run large load against them. His approach covers frontend (web, mobile, rich client), backend (web server, app server, database, services, …) and deployment (bad configurations, wrong sizing, …) problem diagnostics.

Those of you that have an application they are currently working on should bring it along. The idea is BYOD (Bring Your Own Application) and Andreas shows you how to analyze your app. You should leave the workshop with new approaches to analyze performance related problems without even having to run a large scale load test. In case you BYOD you will leave the session with actual findings that you can bring back to your engineering team, e.g: wrong access to the database, memory leaks, excessive use of AJAX, …

Workshop Takeaways:

  • Top Reasons WHY Applications fail to scale and perform.
  • Architectural, scalabilty and performance metrics to look at when analyzing an application.
  • How to analyze these metrics with free available tools on your local workstation.
  • How to communicate these findings with your engineering team to find more problems earlier in the delivery pipeline.
