Workshop: Teaching New Software Testers

The goal of this workshop will be to use the materials that were developed during the three years that SummerQAmp was an active initiative, and the workshops and examples that we used to help develop the modules that ultimately became a part of the program.  The program was developed to help high school- and college-aged interns be capable and experienced enough to get jobs as summer interns with a number of tech companies around the country.  It worked for them….there’s a good chance these techniques will work for your new testers, too!

We will provide a walkthrough of the material and discussions about how to deliver the training and tailor it to the participants in our own organizations, be they student interns, new testers, or even seasoned vets looking for some new ideas.

Subjects covered:

  • What is Testing?
  • What is Context?
  • What is the SDLC/STLC?
  • What is Bias?
  • What are bugs/bug tracking?
  • How Does the Web Work?
