Quality First!

Idea – A follow up to our most popular blog posts this year focusing on moving QA upstream, before development has even started. We’ll discuss some of the struggles we have encountered before and during our transition to agile, and testing in a Continuous Delivery world. How do you get engineers to think about testing before QA? How important is acceptance criteria and a definition of done?

Last November, I co-presented (along with Greg Sypolt) at STPCon 2014 in Denver on an experience report in my team’s move to automation and our lessons learned. I’d like to continue that conversation and how we’ve adapted recently.

Session Takeaways:

  • Cultural challenges moving to Agile.
  • What is DONE, and why is acceptance criteria so important? (and why not to bring a story into a sprint until you know the AC).
  • Everyone is a tester, including engineers. QA helps facilitate quality, not just test.
